Tell our FORME readers who you are and what you do.
My name is Verlyncia Tyson and I am the founder of an ecommerce retail store named MODIFIEDNOW. My store sales well curated monochromatic unisex chic elevated apparel that has been chosen from different emerging designers.
I would coin my personal style as minimal and versatile. My day to day interactions inspire me. I am always taking mental notes on places I travel, people I meet, unique things I see, etc. All of these encounters and experiences help shape my personal style and inspire me.
What part of being a style blogger do you enjoy the most?
I like having an outlet to show my work. I don’t treat my blog as an outlet to just show off my fashions or style, I mainly use it to try and connect with people who share similar aesthetics as me. I am a visual creature and I love to stumble upon other lifestyle bloggers or sites that share my common interest.
Were there any collections that stood out during New York, London, Milan or Paris Fashion Week?
Paris Fashion Week is the only one I pretty much pay attention to because Ann Demeulemeester and Rick Owens always strikes an accord for me. I always look forward to what their next shows have to offer.
How did the idea of starting your own ECommerce store come about? What kind of products can we expect, and when will the store be launching?
I decided to start my Ecommerce store because I wanted to sell unisex garments. My boyfriend and I have a very similar aesthetics especially when it comes to our wardrobe. So overtime, we developed this concept of having a store that was a progressive platform to sell garments we both love and showcase all aspects of creative works. The store is set to launch at the end of May and we will be selling items such as Elongated Black Neoprene Bombers, Cracked White Painted Denim, Basic Elongated T Shirts, and more. I wanted to start with the garments and a few accessories. Overtime I hope that we can incorporate footwear, travel leather goods and home decor objects.
Tell us about your interest in interior design. How important is incorporating shapes and texture into a living space?
I have an interest particularly in Scandinavian Modern “Style” Interior Design. When it comes to the space that I live in, “less is more”. I want my home to be a reflection of who I am as a person and I want it to be a place where I can be creative and productive. Living in a space where all of my furniture is white or chrome allows me the ability to play with textures and shape. The types of textures and shapes I choose have the ability to evolve and change due to how I incorporate them into my space and I really love that aspect which is why I prefer Scandinavian Modern Style Decor principles.
